Joewi Verhoeven NSC, is a Chinese-Dutch cinematographer based in Los Angeles.

Born in the Netherlands, Joewi moved to Beijing at 18 and became the first foreigner to earn a BFA in Cinematography from the Beijing Film Academy. He later completed an MFA in Cinematography at the American Film Institute.

Joewi’s work has featured at multiple film festivals around the world such as Camerimage, San Sebastian Film Fest, Locarno Film Fest, Intl. Film Fest Rotterdam, Busan Intl. Film Fest, AFI Fest, Austin Film Fest, Slamdance, Tallinn Black Nights, Cannes Lions, and more.

He is also a Cinematography Fellow of Film Independent’s 2024 Project Involve Program.

Joewi’s approach to image-making is spiritual - to infuse every frame with a soul and authenticity, while never losing sight of the story.

In his spare time he likes to play guitar for his baby boy.
